DeLeon has remained Mesi's only trainer through his road to the Olympics trials and now into his professional career. There is an automatic chemistry between Juan and Joe which is a huge part of Joe's success. However, Juan brings more than just friendship or a brotherhood to Team Mesi. The 36-year old DeLeon is a 12-year veteran of the pro boxing world. Prior to the role of Team Mesi Head Trainer, Juan worked with his brother, the legendary Carlos "Sugar" DeLeon, four time Cruiser Weight Champion. Carlos Sugar DeLeon who also plays a significant role in Joe's training.
